Introduction

The origin

To coordinate the program of energy saving and paper reducing with electronic documents, all levels of government agencies gradually have being promoting the online operations of authorization signature. It then will cause rapid increasing in the number of electronic records, and high demands for electronic records management and application. In order to assist government agencies in solving potential long-term electronic records preservation and application, NAA have cooperated with corporations, government agencies and academia in researching the long-term electronic records preservation technical since 2008 to develop services for electronic records migration, emulation and preservation, and to support well preservation and effective display.

The NAA’s original office on Yitong Street was transformed into the Electronic Documents and Records Service Center on December 26, 2013 in order to fulfil its new mandate. Original Electronic Records Technical Service Center was the newly named Electronic Records Preservation Laboratory on January 22, 2014.

 

The goal

Provide technical services relating to electronic records migration, recovery, and destruction, giving government institutions the proper technologies to manage electronic records.

Promote technical knowledge on electronic records preservation; analyze the government's needs in relation to electronic records migration and recovery, and provide assistance in implementing electronic records preservation.
